Technology and Resources
All MPS academic activities are supported by technology. Today Marianapolis offers a wireless campus and two state-of-the art Computer Labs. Most classrooms have at least one computer, and nearly all have SmartBoards. From the arts to the sciences, students use technology throughout the curriculum.
Some examples are:
- Video students record, edit and produce videos
- Digital photography students take photos and use software to alter them
- Students in computer science learn to create and publish web pages
- Math classes use on-line resources and programs like Geometer Sketchpad and Graphamatica to investigate the nuances of new concepts
- History classes use animated maps to illustrate historic battles
- Teachers make use of Smart Boards and PowerPoint presentations in their daily instruction.
The entire campus is connected by a high-speed wireless Internet network. Students can access the Internet with their personal computers and through computers in all dormitories, in the library, and in the computer lab in the Main Building. A firewall and content filtering protect the network, and give the school control over the hours during which instant messaging and music sharing activities are restricted. Marianapolis provides web-based Email accounts for all students and faculty.
A brand new Computer Lab was opened in 2008, complete with 16 state-of-the-art work stations in a dedicated space designed for the needs of Marianapolis students and faculty. This joins the Baron Room computer lab and classroom, and the workstations in the Library.
